May 18 2002 Hershey Centre, Mississauga

The day started off looking very promising, weather wise. The morning was chilly and clear with scattered clouds and a fairly strong breeze blowing that made a great morning for the first Push It The The Limit event of 2002.

The registration line was long, since it was the first event of the season. Fortunately, they had a fast track line for the competitors that had previous signed up for the series that expidited the extended wait in line.

After walking the course a few times and chatting with some fellow competitors after our long Canadian hibernation called winter, the drivers meeting began. With, I do believe, 93 people signed up to run, the first of the runs began at about 10:30.

The entire day ran very smoothly with only a couple of very small hold ups, usually due to someone trying to find their way back on course. Most of the 93 competitors managed to get 5 runs, some people decided it was too chilly and went home early. The only real problem was the cold breeze. The scattered clouds had turn to full cloud cover and the wind picked up and made the day quite brisk.

The brisk temperatures and no sun meant, no tire temperature. Most of the people with race compound tires struggled with the lack of grip, which made things even more interesting.
